Brown’s Chapel Elementary Gears Up for Third Annual “Run for the Buck$” Fundraiser

Each October, students at Brown’s Chapel Elementary take part in fundraising efforts designed to support school initiatives and enhance learning opportunities. Throughout the month, students collect donations while working toward exciting prizes that reward both participation and achievement. While this fundraiser is still new, it has quickly become a hallmark event in the school community, known for its creativity and school spirit.

Prizes have played a central role in motivating students. Past rewards have included Run for the Buck$ bracelets, a high-energy Glow Party, and a lively silly string celebration. Students have also enjoyed interactive and humorous incentives such as the opportunity to pie school principals, dunk Dr. Dodd, and even slime Mrs. Penny and Officer Hayden—activities that consistently generate enthusiasm and memorable moments across campus.

Local businesses are also invited to contribute to the fundraiser, either through monetary donations or by providing services. Community partnerships have been instrumental in the event’s success, helping to broaden its impact while fostering strong connections between the school and local organizations.

The month-long effort culminates in the Run for the Buck$ Celebration, a day eagerly awaited by students and staff alike. The highlight of the celebration is the Fun Run, where students take to the course to compete against their grade level. Participants strive to complete the most laps, demonstrating both endurance and school pride. Top performers are later recognized during a special Run for the Buck$ assembly, adding an extra layer of excitement and recognition for student effort.

Last year’s fundraiser proved especially successful, raising approximately $18,000 to benefit the school. Organizers hope to build on that momentum this year, with students, families, and the community once again coming together to support Brown’s Chapel Elementary.

“We are so excited for our third annual Run for the Buck$ fundraiser this fall,” said Principal Christina Penny. “It’s an incredible opportunity for our students to work toward a common goal while having fun and building school spirit.”

Businesses or community members interested in sponsoring the event or contributing donations are encouraged to get involved. For more information, please contact Megan Maguigan at [email protected].

With its blend of friendly competition, community engagement, and joyful celebration, Run for the Buck$ continues to be a standout tradition at Brown’s Chapel Elementary—one that brings the entire school community together for a great cause.
