BCE Traffic Pattern

Starting Monday October 14, due to the rapid growth of the school, the ongoing traffic issues on Baker Rd, and the anticipation of ANOTHER elementary school opening down the street in August 2025, we need to make some BIG changes to our morning and afternoon traffic flow. I know change is difficult, but this change is necessary to ensure the safety of everyone on school property and the citizens who travel on Baker Rd. The signage will be updated, in the coming weeks, to reflect the changes once we have ensured the new traffic flow works. There will be extra SRO's and patrol deputies on hand to help assist with traffic during this transition. PLEASE be patient with the staff, teachers, and crossing guards as we are also learning to navigate these changes as well! The map is linked below for your reference. 

 

THE ONLY PEOPLE ALLOWED TO PARK IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING ARE STAFF/TEACHERS, PRE-K, and ANYONE WITH FRONT OFFICE BUSINESS, SUCH AS NEW STUDENTS, MEDICATION FOR THE NURSE, BRINGING IN GOODIES FOR BIRTHDAYS. Using the middle lane for drop off has become a safety hazard due to the increased enrollment and will be blocked off in the mornings. 

 

Enter the drop-off line according to the orange line on the map. Follow it around to the back of the building to drop your child off by the gym. For those who have pre-k(am) AND K-5 students, you may also walk the older children up to the pre-k class. It is fine for the older students to walk through the pre-k class to get to their respective morning holding areas. If you want to use the car line for the older children, you will need to exit the parking lot to Baker Rd. and get in the drop-off line with everyone else. 

 

The afternoon will flow a bit differently than the morning since everyone is leaving in roughly the same 15–20-minute window. PARENTS, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ARRIVE TO THE SCHOOL UNTIL 2:00, THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN BE PARKED ON BAKER RD WAITING UNTIL 2:00. This is crucial to ensuring that traffic does not get backed up on Baker Rd.  Kindergarten will now be picked up from the gym with grades 1-5. I understand that this is a BIG change, but we were unable to accomplish getting traffic off of Baker Rd AND keep Kindergarten pickup in the front of the building. Pre-k parents, you will still park to pick up your pre-k student. If you have older children to pick up, you will need to exit the parking lot and get in the main car line to pick up your K-5 student. 

 

At 2:00, you will be allowed to starting forming the afternoon pickup line according to the orange line on the map. Once dismissal begins around 2:20, you will be instructed to form a double line consisting of 5 cars in each line. As soon as both lines are formed, place your car in park while all the kids are loaded. Once all the students in the group are loaded, the line closest to the sidewalk will proceed to the exit and the other line will fall in behind them to form a single file line according to the green line on the map. If you need to turn right onto Baker Rd, make a right turn in the front of the building by the parking lot and use the middle lane. If you need to turn left onto Baker Rd, continue straight ahead to Baker Rd and turn left. PLEASE follow the green arrow on the map to help you navigate the exits to Baker Rd. 

 

**The playground will be closed until dismissal is finished. 

**Afternoon extracurriculars will follow the same traffic flow as the morning drop-off.

**If you have time during Fall Break, feel free to come to the school and practice your drop-off and pick-up routine. Have your kiddos practice getting in and getting out of the car quickly with their belongings.
